Female Political Underrepresentation
This project taught me the value of going the extra mile to capture strong, in-person interviews. Driving 30 minutes for a face-to-face conversation paid off with a thoughtful, articulate source who added depth and authenticity to the piece. The experience reminded me that great reporting often comes from showing up and being present in the community.

Larry Mboga Profile - Personality Story
This story taught me how to track down and interview sources beyond my local area, including a former teammate of Larry’s from the Twin Cities. It also helped me strengthen my ability to tell human-centered stories that highlight personal impact and legacy.

Rising ACL Injuries in Females
I learned how to analyze large datasets, spot meaningful patterns, and turn those insights into clear, visual storytelling. This project strengthened my data journalism skills and showed me how to find powerful stories in the numbers.

Homelessness Story

Through open conversations, I gained valuable insights and learned not to fear asking difficult questions. It also helped me sharpen my skills in Google Sites design, graphic creation, photography, and data analysis.
Declining Vaccination Rates

This story taught me how to balance multiple perspectives while reporting on a sensitive public health issue. Interviewing both supporters and skeptics of vaccines challenged me to ask thoughtful, nonjudgmental questions and represent each viewpoint fairly. It strengthened my ability to create balanced, informative journalism on polarizing topics.
Civilian Military Story

This story follows Lynn Archibald-Smith, a military spouse in Eau Claire, Wis., as she manages daily life while her husband is stationed out of state with the Army Reserve. Through moments at home, a local VFW, and the city’s recruiting center, the photo essay explores what service and support look like in a town without the infrastructure of a military base.
